The Kensington Square Group has been working through the Land Development stages on our site in Erin Ontario since 2017 and we're pleased to provide an update of where this project is at.
We have submitted an application for a development to the Town of Erin and Wellington County. We have been working diligently with a number of groups to make our plan a reality - and bring new life back to the site in Erin. There are a few steps left to work through prior to breaking ground or creating sales information; but we are excited to be able to communicate those to the general public once our development application and building permit have been approved.
The Kensington Square Group has proposed a stacked back-to-back townhouse development that complements the surrounding community, and provides housing options to the evolving village. The proposal includes custom offerings that are uniquely designed to fit the needs of the community.
Kensington Square’s design accommodates seniors, families, singles - anyone looking for a new home in the charming Town of Erin. There are options for elevators in our proposed floor plans, and larger garages than a typical stacked townhouse, accommodating larger vehicles.
The central location provided by the former school site is ideal for new homes. It is within walking distance of services, and the unique stacked back-to-back design allows the development to face all four streets on which it fronts.
On this website, you will find a list of all the studies and reports our group has initiated and completed, including the Planning Justification Report and Urban Design Report. We are proud to have the opportunity to update everyone who has inquired about the redevelopment of the former Erin Public School site, as well as begin a conversation with anyone who may be seeking information for the first time.
We are proud to have a site which once housed the Historical
Erin Public School on Main Street in Erin Ontario.
In 1923, the construction of the Erin Public School brought a landmark feature to the then Village of Erin, and for decades provided much more than just education to the community.
It was a home for recreation, community gatherings and a central focus of the Village itself.
We were able to save and preserve a number of elements of the Erin Public School including bricks which we are excited to be able to integrate into the new development.
In 2017 our group was able to present a brick to the Mayor of the Town of Erin, Allan Alls.
We wanted to acknowledgement the history of the site and also promise
to respect the Town with what is built in its place.

This report shows how the proposed development conforms to all of the planning policies and legislation that developments must adhere to within Ontario.
It also shows how those planning policies and legislation have impacted the proposal.
For example: Many might ask why townhouses are being proposed
The Planning Justification Report shows on page 6 that section 1.1.3.3 of the Provincial Policy Statement calls for planning authorities to identify and promote locations and opportunities for redevelopment and intensification.
It’s a big document, send us your questions below, and we will attempt to address them,
or steer you in the right direction to find your answers.
This report outlines the overall design strategy for the site, and how its incorporation into the proposed location will work. It also outlines the design strategies and principles the Kensington Square Group would follow during construction.
